PM Modi had made an urge in live speech to use only local products for seeing the dream of self-reliant India. Pertaining to that message, Amit Shah, Home Minister had instructed the CAPF canteens to start the use of indigenous products.
The message of being vocal for local implemented for the CAPF canteens:-
PM Modi had given the message of being vocal for locals that meant to reduce the use of foreign products. He had put forward it as a step ahead for seeing a self-reliant India. He was with a view that if we strengthen our local brands they shall become strong globally also. It would also decrease the imports from other countries and make our products better.
Amit Shah’s announcement for the CAPF canteens:-
Amit Shah had made an appeal to the country people to extend this vision of PM Narendra Modi and use only Swadeshi products and ask others too. He had stated it in his tweet along with an image of the message of PM Modi. He also put his view that if everyone starts using Swadeshi products India shall become a self- reliant country only in a period of 5 years.
Amit Shah keeping the importance of Made in India products made an announcement on Wednesday to be followed by the CAPF canteens. The announcement consisted of no foreign product to be available in the CAPF canteens from June 1 and the CAPF canteens shall use only Swadeshi products.
About the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) canteens:-
Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) or Paramilitary forces’ The Central Police Canteens (CPC) have responsibility to cater to the needs of 10 lakh personnel with their 50 lakh family members. These personnel consist of SSB (Sashastra Seema Bal), NSG (National Security Guards), CISF (Central Industrial Security Force) and Assam Rifles.
They further consist of ITBP (Indo-Tibet Border Police), CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) and BSF (Border Security Force). If we have a look on the canteens rendering their services, there are around 119 master canteens. These are accompanied with 1,625 subsidiary canteens in various locations. The CAPFs have been reported to sell Swadeshi products already from last as ordered by MHA.
They had introduced Swadeshi products largely that included clothing, household goods, bed sheets, towels and stationary. It even provided Indian brand cars, combat and regular duty uniform, accoutrements for khaki, food items and many other items. It has also been seen that procurement for the canteens is from Khadi and Village Industries Commission (KVIC).
It has also been estimated that Rs 2,800 crore annually are contributed by CAPF canteens altogether. However it was reported that the usage was not given any deadline and on Wednesday Amit Shah had instructed for complete sale of Indian products only.
The changes made after the announcement pertaining to the CAPF canteens:-
Director General of ITBP, S S Deswal had stated that their most usage consists of food, clothes, weapons and uniforms from Indian brands. He even stated that equipment to take precautionary measures like masks and sanitizers are also Indian made. He further stated that a small portion which would be ignored now would be replenished.
He further stated from June 1 the canteens would witness a full modification to sell only Swadeshi.
