The IMD has issued a red alert for the western coast of Maharashtra as well as for Mumbai as an effect of Nisarga cyclone in Mumbai. There are warnings of severe climatic conditions also issued by the IMD that a cyclonic storm is predicted to cross at the evening of June 3 over South Gujarat and North Maharashtra coasts. Home Minister Amit Shah had also conducted a meeting for the same reason and precautionary measures are now being taken.
Severe weather predictions made and the effect of Nisarga cyclone in Mumbai and other regions:-
The IMD has made predictions as to the effect of Nisarga cyclone in Mumbai on extreme rain and in Palghar, Thane and Raigad also. There has been a warning issued along with tidal waves in South Gujarat and North Maharashtra coast, for flash floods in Mumbai, Ratnagiri and Sindhudurg.
There are predictions of landfall also made on the coast of Gujarat and Palghar. There have been predictions made also that the Southern Gujarat Coast near Daman on June 3 evening would be hit by Nisarga cyclone. There are further predictions made for Amreli and Bhavnagar districts on June 3 and 4 made for heavy rainfalls.
Meeting conducted by Amit Shah and the deployment of NDRF teams as an effect of cyclone in Mumbai, and other regions:-
There was a high level review meeting held by the Home Minister, along with, NDRF, IMD, NDMA and Indian Coast Guard conducted on June 1. Home Minister Amit Shah had also held a video conference adjoining it with CM of Maharashtra and Gujarat, Uddhav Thackeray and Vijay Rupani.
The video conference was also held with Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, administrator Praful Patel. Amit Shah further had focused the meeting on the requirements and resources for the cyclone. It was then concluded in the meeting for deployment of NDRF teams, 13 teams in the state of Gujarat, 2 kept as reserve.
There were further 16 teams deployed in the state of Maharashtra and 7 kept in reserve and for Daman and Diu and Dadra and Nagar Haveli, one team each.
The precautionary measures taken by Gujarat and Maharashtra and for the effects of cyclone in Mumbai and other regions:-
There have been three teams deployed in Mumbai, of NDRF as an effect of Nisarga cyclone in Mumbai. Further there are 2 teams each deployed in Raigad and Palghar and one team each in Ratnagiri, Thane and Sindhudurg.
There have been SOP issued by Maharashtra state Government and 90% fishermen have reported to have reached. The 10 teams of NDRF have been deployed in Gujarat to districts like Bharuch, Navsari, Surat, Dang and Valsad.
