IRCTC to commence train bookings from today 4 p.m. onwards and trains to run from 12th May.

The Indian Railways had made an announcement based on the 15 new pairs of trains covering 30 journeys from 12th May. The booking for these trains would commence from 4 p.m. onwards on 11th May. Passengers though have to keep the guidelines accompanying along with it in mind. 

Announcement by Indian Railways for IRCTC bookings and trains:-

The Indian Railways made an announcement about resuming services by 15 passenger trains to 30 journeys from May 12th. These train bookings would commence on 11th May from 4 p.m. onwards. These special trains shall have A.C. coaches and the arrangements have been made sure that the currently functioning Shramik trains are not affected. They have been started in the view to allow people stranded in different cities since the beginning of lockdown reach their desired locations. 

List of cities for IRCTC bookings:-

The trains would cover the distance from Delhi to important cities and the stops in between as seen in the schedule along with a return journey. The train will have their starting point at Delhi to some important places, enlisted as Dibrugarh, Agartala, Howrah, Patna, Bhubaneswar, Secunderabad, Bilaspur, Ranchi, Bengaluru and Chennai. The list further extends with Mumbai Central, Ahmedabad, Thiruvananthapuram, Jammu Tawi and Madgaon.

This is just the beginning of efforts to run passenger trains but after its success there would be more special trains scheduled with new routes. 

About the train bookings and some steps to follow on IRCTC:-

It has been instructed that the train bookings would happen online on, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) website. The tickets are to be booked either online through its app but it’s strictly informed not to be booked on Railway counters or through the medium of agents. The necessary steps to follow start with clicking on the “Book your ticket” page and fill up the necessary details on the adjoining window. 

For finding trains, you have to click on the “find trains” page and the adjoining window would show the list and you have to fill it up with your choice of class, timings, etc.  

Some of the guidelines to be kept in mind for passengers and IRCTC special train fare:-

It has to be kept in mind that the trains shall have a very limited number of stops being run by A.C. coaches. The fares of the trains shall be based on that of Rajdhani trains. So the passengers should be prepared for paying premium fares while IRCTC booking. There would be no issuing of Tatkal train tickets or a premium accommodation of Tatkal. It has to be noted that the platform tickets or counter tickets on sale for the passengers. 

It has also been made mandatory for using masks while traveling and a mandatory screening test before boarding the train. There would be no concession included in the fare of tickets for senior citizens or students. The online cancellation has been given a strict permission only until 24 hrs of time and as cancellation fee, the 50 % of fare would be applied.

 There would not be any catering fee or pre paid meal booking or e-catering services. The provisions would be made for making dry-meal along with packaged drinking water to be reached to the passengers on board demand and payment. It is also to be noted that pillows or blanket covers for comfort of passengers would not be given.
